A museum display is a representation or model of your interpretation of the relevance and significance of your research in history. It must meet the size and portability criteria set out below.
You may use this method of presentation to enter any research chosen for the National History Challenge. However, some Special Categories have special requirements and conditions.
Your entry must:
- be an individual or group entry, (maximum of four in any one group).
- Be submitted with a copy of the entry form, completed and signed.
- Be portable, lightweight, demountable and sturdy for transportation interstate if necessary. It MUST be submitted in a package suitable for transport by post or courier.
- Be less than 1 metre wide, 1 metre deep and 1 metre high when assembled.
- may not have more than 1000 words of student composed written material or more than 3 minutes of recorded information if AV devices are built into the model. (A hard copy of such material must be submitted with the entry). This limit DOES NOT APPLY to primary sources included in the model.
Years 5 to 8
- A 200 word (maximum) written explanation of how the research was carried out to create and develop the display must be included. It must conclude with a strong statement about the relationship of the model to the theme.
- A bibliography must be included.
- Entries must be student produced and presented, no external assistance is allowable at any stage of the model’s development or presentation.
Years 9 to 12
- A 500 word (maximum) written explanation of how the research was carried out to create and develop the entry must be included. It must conclude with a strong statement about the relationship of the performance to the theme.
- An annotated bibliography and correct citation must be included.
- Entries must be student produced and presented, no external assistance is allowable at any stage of the model’s development or presentation.
Only one copy of your research is required for judging at school level. AT STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL, TWO WRITTEN COPIES OF YOUR ENTRY ARE REQUIRED.
