We celebrate shining women stars on the screen and in the media but there are many women whose lives have gone unrecorded. We would like you to find these hidden stars and unearth them in the archives, in old newspapers, in the records of your town or suburb or in the stories of elderly people who live nearby. You could also try our website at the National Foundation for Australian Women (nfaw.org/).
Tell us why you think these women’s accomplishments should be recorded but don’t just narrate the story of their lives. Show us the significance of what they have achieved for their communities or for Australia. Why did such star quality go unnoticed and unrecorded? Dig deeply in both primary and secondary sources and give evidence of your analytical and detective skills. Write beautifully about these wonderful hidden women stars so that we too can celebrate them and rejoice in their achievements.
